After reading about the new Helioplex formula, I had to try this. Helioplex is supposed to be more effective and better because it alows Avobenzone and Oxybenzone to work together to block the complete spectrum of UVA and UVB rays of the sun, similar to Mexoryl but for less than $10 bucks! I decided to go with a facial moisturizer with sunscreen which will save me time in the morning. I usually can't wear chemical sunscreens on my face, but this one didn't make my eyes burn or tear. I find the texture to be a bit thicker than a lotion and quite moisturizing. I think this would be suitable for normal to dry skin, which is what I have. When I first apply to my face, it feels a little sticky and makes my skin look shinny. I usually apply makeup next, but I won't wear it without makeup because of the shine. Not the greatest scent, but I don't care too much for smell because I dislike parfum products anyway.
Pros:moisturizing, cheap, sustain longer UVA absorbtion Cons:sticky, smell, small tube (less than 2 oz)
I'm loving this product! It absorbs instantly without andy residue. I purchased the untinted, because I have dark skin. The chemicals used in sunscreen can very cause an ashen cast, but not this one.
Pros:goes on clear and absorbs instantly Cons:none
Has the most disgusting smell ever... Like nailpolish remover. It says there is no reason to rinse, but honestly, I thought there might have been some sort of gas leak or chemical leak going on in the house, but it was coming from my face!!!!
I have relatively oily skin and was really looking for a strong SPF sunscreen that was oil-free. I used the SPF 55 and it was awesome - my face didn't burn and it went on clean and was not oily for the rest of the day. Awesome product and will definitely buy again and again and again!!!
Before I start, let me at least give credit to Neutrogena for the old formula for this product, because it really was great. It did everything it claimed, and had a sweet, sort of fruity smell and taste from the cucumber and fruit extracts. The texture was silky and when used overnight, worked wonders for my always-dry lips. It was a great product.
When the "new formula" came out, however, I was severely disappointed. They added at least one new ingredient, which might be the sesame seed oil. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't make the entire product smell AWFUL, kind of like Crisco, and very greasy and oily on the lips - quite frankly, it feels a bit disgusting.
It doesn't seem to penetrate as deeply or work nearly as well, either, because I had to keep reapplying it. Even after wearing it overnight, I didn't feel a significant difference in the texture of my lips like I did before.
Overall, what used to be a great product turned into an awful (and smelly) one with a few changes to the formula. I'll be sad when the last of my older tube is gone... but honestly, skip out on this one. Unless you enjoy the smell of Crisco on your lips, I guess.
Pros:Moisturizes dry lips Cons:Awful smell, greasy, doesn't last, need to keep reapplying
This really cleans off all my makeup and it does not dry my skin at all. Fabulous stuff. I can even use it around my eyes on days when im too lazy to us eye remover. It does not burn my eyes so im happy with it.
Pros:cleans deeply without drying Cons:I hate the menthol in there, it's not necessary
This stuff works amazingly well; whenever a blemish pops up, I simply apply a tiny bit of gel every few hours and the redness and size are reduces almost immediately. I've recommended this to many people and they've all had similar results.
This was the best cream cleanser I have ever used. It made my skin nice and soft, and moisturized, actually, which was awesome for the harsh winter months. It's nothing spectacular, and I do not prefer it over my HG. However, it wasn't bad and smelled nice, too. The packaging, a squeeze tube, just wasn't my cup of tea. I would buy again, if I ever find myself straying from my favs.
Love the moisturizer. It isn't exactly the best you can get, but it does it's job very well. It's nice and light for the summer, doesn't feel sticky or too liquidy, doesn't have a distinctive smell, and the packaging is nice and sanitary. It's my HG for the summer months, and def. recommend it.
I was very disappoined with the new formulation of this sunblock. I used to use the older version without sunblock which was easily absorbed, giving a matte finish. This one is extremely greasy, even after a while, it remained greasy..so it's definitely not 'dry-touch'. I have combination acne-prone skin so it's not suitable for it. If you have dry skin though, you just might like it.
There reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the ingredients. Neutrogena makes some of the best sunscreens out there and for really affordable prices. Their sunscreens provide strong UVB+UVA active ingredients that are photostable. So, if you're willing to sacrifice the greasy feeling - this might be for you!
Pros:Price. Strong, photostable active UVA + UVB ingredients in Cons:Very greasy.
It's gentle for my eyes but gets rid of eye makeup easily. I can't say that everything comes off the first time, but the majority of the eye makeup does come off. It's a cheap product that works well.
I usually shake the bottle for a short while for the product to mix together first, then apply it to a cotton pad. I then put the damp cotton pad on my eye and leave it there for about 15 seconds. then gently swap the cotton pad to the side of my eye. Most eye makeup is removed by this point so I use the back of the cotton pad to remove the rest of the eye makeup.
Pros:removes waterproof makeup without much trouble Cons:like many other similar makeup remover, it leaves a layer of oil on the eye after use
